Risa electronics, inc., the world's leading semiconductor solution provider, today announced the launch of four new 32-bit RX651 microcontrollers (MCU) in the ultra-small 64-pin BGA and LQFP packages. The new product expands ressa's popular RX651 MCU series, with a 64 pin (4.5mm x 4.5mm)BGA package that is 59% smaller than the 100-pin LGA.The area of 64 pin (10mm x 10mm)LQFP is 49% less than that of 100 pin LQFP.This series of MCUS addresses the advanced security requirements of end-point devices such as compact sensors and communication modules used in industrial, network control, building automation and intelligent metering systems operating at the edge of the Internet of things.

Renesas electronics co., the Internet of things platform business unit marketing vice President Daryl Khoo said: "the Internet of things and the explosive growth of industrial 4.0 led to higher performance, smaller size of the Internet of things demand connection module, these modules to support Internet connection required for each security requirements, such as confidentiality, data integrity, and availability. The ultra-small packaged RX651 meets these requirements and is ideal for low-cost and high-performance iot compact networking applications. The 64 pin RX651MCU series provides customers with miniaturization, high performance and security features to protect connected industrial and manufacturing systems and other Internet of things devices from cyber attacks.

The RX651 series MCU integrates connectivity, Trusted Secure IP(TSIP) encryption, and Trusted flash protection, enabling live flash firmware updates through Secure network communications. In addition, the increase in endpoint devices running on the edge also increases the need for over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. The new RX651 integrates TSIP, enhanced flash protection and other advanced technologies to support this firmware update requirement, making it more secure and stable than other market solutions.

Key features of RX651 64 pin MCU

· enabling advanced edge equipment of Internet of things: ultra-small 64-pin MCU with enhanced safety function is based on high-performance RXv2 kernel and 40nm process. Measured by EEMBC benchmark, it can achieve excellent performance of 520 Coremark and high power efficiency of 35 Coremark /mA at 120 MHz.

· convenient on-site firmware update: dual bank flash memory integrated with TSIP implementation to protect encryption keys with high trust root level.Encryption hardware accelerators include AES, 3DES, RSA, SHA, and TRNG, and code flash area protection to protect boot code from illegal tampering.Dual bank flash memory supports BGO(background operation) and SWAP for easier and more reliable on-site firmware updates.

· network connection function: RX651 series MCU is optimized for the connected industrial environment, which can monitor the running state of machines inside and outside the factory, realize data exchange, change production instructions, and reprogram MCU memory to update equipment Settings.

Pricing and supply

RX651 64 pin MCU is now available from renesas global resellers starting at $4.58 per 10K lot.Low-cost Renesas Target Boards and Renesas Starter Kits, combined with the e2 studio integrated development environment, can be used for performance evaluation and rapid start system development.
